Virtue, Diligence & Brotherly Love –
Leading a fraternity is much like leading a successful football team. The head coach is the Chapter President, his assistant coaches are the executive board members, and the players are the brothers. Together, the executive board steers the direction of the fraternity that coincides with our vision.
The brothers play arguably the most important positions, as players. Actions by brothers drive our chapter forward. Florida Epsilon continues to work like a successful football team, collecting victories along the way through virtue, diligence and brotherly love. I am proud to be leading this fraternity and cherish the brothers who came before, especially the previous executive boards. Florida Epsilon will continue to succeed with our culture, because our standard is permanent.
Florida Epsilon has continued to set the standard for fraternities at Florida State University through our many accomplishments of our overachieving brothers:
- Brother Kevin Rutois (Fall 2017) was elected the 2020 Interfraternity Council President, where he leads the 15 fraternities alongside his executive board as the liaison to university administration.
- Brother Manny Osaba (Spring 2018) served as the President of the Seminole Student Boosters, the largest student organization on campus that strives to connect the student body to Seminole Athletics. Brother Osaba was also the runner-up in the highly contested Homecoming Chief election, our first nominee since 2015.
- Brother Tony Luna, (Fall 2016), former President, currently serves as the Chairmen of the Mental Health Council, leading a team of 40 dedicated individuals to provide resources and awareness for mental health support for all students.
- Brother Kyle Dimatteo (Fall 2018) continued his success on campus and as a student athlete swimmer serving on the Seminole Student Boosters board and Student Athlete Advisory Committee while placing first in several meets.
These men embody what it means to be a SigEp and we look forward to seeing what more they can achieve.
As a chapter, we have continued our commitment to our cardinal principles through our Balanced Man program, which have led us to reach new heights. In Fall 2019, we extended 57 bids and had 55 young men finish the Sigma challenge, utilizing our innovative new member process. Because of our efforts, retention rates have skyrocketed. We have steadily increased our chapter GPA to a new high at 3.2, the second highest among all IFC chapters.
We attribute our progress to our sound mind programming with weekly study hours at the chapter house, along with our biweekly academic check-ins led by Brother Wyatt Walther (Fall 2017), our Chaplain. Florida Epsilon is also launching a new initiative, the Undergraduate & Alumni Engagement Plan. Its purpose is to connect brothers of past and present through media communications and programming. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding this initiative.
We will continue to win together.
As always in Seminole Spirit & HFF,
Andres Salas
