This past weekend we had the opportunity and pleasure for our brotherhood to participate in Dance Marathon alongside FSU @chio under Team Sleeper. SigEp raised a total of $18,604, our highest amount ever, contributing to a grand total of 1.9 million dollars. We would like to give a special shoutout to our delegate Tom Tantillo for leading our chapter these past several months, Harley Ramba for being a fundraising captain, Wyatt Walther for being a morale captain, Nick Allen for Djing Silent Disco, and all our other brothers who contributed to this great cause and tradition.
Dance Marathon at Florida State University holds an annual 40-hour event where more than 1,800 students stay awake and on their feet to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer. Our mission is For the Kids with a commitment to raising funds for children in need of specialized pediatric and medical care that otherwise are not available to them locally. Dance Marathon at FSU, the largest student-run philanthropy in the southeastern region of the United States, benefits our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, Shands Children’s Hospital, and the FSU College of Medicine’s Pediatric Outreach Programs.
Every year, one of our brothers is chosen to be a delegate to represent SigEp’s Dance Marathon Team. Our delegate this year was Tom Tantillo, and he described the role as follows:
“My position as delegate consists of attending weekly meetings where I work the the membership team in regards to promoting Dance Marathon as a whole as well as being an open resource for our members throughout the year. I provide support and advice when it comes strategizing how to raise money as well as organize share-it nights that help our team have as many members reach minimum as possible. This year we had 29 brothers reach the $250 minimum required to dance, with 3 brothers even surpassing $1,000.”
